Shorewood's Civic Alliance made itself felt again last night in affairs of that community during the meeting of the village board.
First came a communication from Ray G. Leach, secretary of the alliance, calling attention to the fact that the names of dead men appeared on the official poll lists, and that. in many cases. names were repeated two or three times in different precincts. In still other cases persons who were listed had moved from the village many years ago.
Calls It "Deplorable."
"This is certainly deplorable and ought to be corrected," remarked President W. J. Hubbard.
Another letter from Secretary Leach referred to the alliance's old request that the height limit in first class business areas be reduced from 80 to 65 feet and that the set-back building line be changed from 3 to 5 feet.
Would Make It Boulevard
Thirty Lake drive property owners appeared to protest against letting of contracts 'by the village board for the repaving of Lake drive. The Lake drive residents feel that the county's agreement to repave the same thoroughfare in Whitefish Bay gives rise to 'the hope that similar generosity of the board will be extended to Shorewood.
O. A. Hoffman, 4226 East Lake drive, suggested that the drive be changed to a boulevard, and this proposal was assigned to the streets and alleys committee. Heavy hauling can be forbidden if this be done, Hoffmann pointed out.
