Full Text

Mr. Catlin having closed his exhibition here, is going to Washington, from whence he will proceed to Europe, where he has an almost certain prospect of realizing about a hundred, or a hundred and fifty thousand dollars. In London and Paris, and the provincial towns and cities, his gallery will be quite the rage, nothing of the kind being known there, and the people being quite enthusiastic about the Indians, their history, antiquities, and every thing connected with them. Catlin is a star of that galaxy of talent of which this country may well be proud, and who illustrate it by their genius, spirit, enterprise, and excellence of character; like Audubon, he is enthusiastic, and imbued with an intense devotion to his pursuits: and, as is always the result when such is the case, he has succeeded beyond any other competition in producing a collection unrivalled and inimitable. We rejoice in the good fortune that awaits him; he has fairly earned it, and will make a good use of it, as he is as single hearted, as he is absorbed in the objects of his talent and industry.
