Full Text
Abolition Love for the Soldier.
The following soldiers were offered by their friends as candidates before the Republican County Convention. Captain Charles Galman, Captain Walker, Crook, Captain Fielding Loway, Capt. Fenser, D. W. Schaafber and Mr. Suay.
Captain Crook was withdrawn as Commissioner to give way to Arp who stayed at home! Captain Garvan for Clerk was beaten by Fox - who stayed at home! Private Schaerrgr for Auditor was beaten by Jacob Dimrich - who stayed at home! And when the choice for Treasurer had to be made between Irsser and Stanley - both soldiers - the Convention chose the Captain and slaughtered the Private, although he was entitled to a reputation. A fine record to lay before the soldiers!
