Charleston, Nov 12

The U. S. brig Enterprise, Lieut. L.
Elliott, commander, arrived here last

evening from a cruise in the Bay of Mex-
ico, and from Havana. The Enterprize, at Cape Antonio, on the 10th
ult. fell in with a band of pirates in pos-
session of the ship Lucies, of this port,
the brig Aristides of Boston, and brig
Larch of St. Andrews—the two first with

full cargoes from Liverpool.

The boats of the Enterprise, under Lt.
McIntosh and two small boats from the
merchant vessels, with Mr. Perry, purser
of the Enterprise, gave chase to the pira-
tical vessels. The pirates made for the
shore, and succeeded in running their
vessels aground, and making their es-
cape.

The vessels taken are four schooners
and one sloop. One of the schooners was
burnt by order of Capt. Kearney, not
having men to spare to man her. and
another was set on fire by the pirates, and
was burnt to the water's edge, with a full
cargo of dry goods, plundered from the
Aristides.

Spoke off the Moro castle, on the 4th
inst. the U. S. schr. Porpoise, on a cruise;
H. B. M. sloop of war Ontario, bound to
England; the American brig Cumber-
land, 33 days from Portland for Ha-
vana and schooner Conner, Campbell, 13
days from Charleston for Havana.

Passengers in the Enterprise - Capt.
J. Johnston, late master of the brig Aris-
tides, of Boston, and Crew. The Aris-
tides was run ashore by the pirates, bil-
ged, and plundered on the 15th ult.

Mr. Stackpole, mate of the ship Lu-
cies, and Mr. Vinro, of Charleston, cast
away on the coast of Cuba, are also pass-
gers.

A schooner, crew of the prizes, arrived
in company last evening.
