Carson Boy Electrocuted Saturday Noon Near Huffaker
Saturday about the noon hour, Geo. Kelley, a Carson raised boy, met his death on the electric wires near Huffaker's station, on the main line of the Truckee River General Electric line, says the Carson Appeal. The young man left here last week to assist in taking up the slack in the wires transmitting the high voltage power to Virginia City. When he left he knew of the dangers in the position and assured a number of friends that he would use all possible care. The absolute details of the accident are not known to the people as yet. As near as can be ascertained the young man was on one of the poles and cut one of the wires. In doing so the wire came in contact with the live wire along side and then touched his face, as the only mark was a slight burn on the lips. One report states that he was instantly killed while another is to the effect that he died on the train on the way to Reno. It is further understood that he had on a rubber suit and that his tools were insulated, but as the deadly wire came in contact with his face which was exposed, all of the precautions that he took were without avail.
