IMPROVEMENT. A few months since, this, our prosperous town, was dejected and dismayed at the prospects which lay before it; murmurs and complaints were heard at the corners of our streets. It is true we were under a dark and fearful cloud. The sceptic doubted whether we should ever again see the sunshine of prosperity, and the splenetic predicted we should not. The doubts and the fears of both have been removed. The danger, if any ever existed, has passed over, business is reviving, trade increasing, our manufactories are all in full operation, and the prospects before us are all serenity and sunshine. Money, the sinew of trade, is plenty for those who can purchase it; all complaints about its scarcity have subsided, and the usurer now sighs for his one per cent.
