Stagg Sorry for Mythical Critics

Chicago, Nov. 6. -- (AP) - Pickers of all-American football teams this season have the sympathy of Amos Alonzo Stagg, the "grand old man" of the University of Chicago.

"In my 40 years of football, I have never known a season when there was such a super-abundance of real backs," Stagg said. "There are at least a dozen players who stand out from the pack-men who are entitled to consideration for all-American honors. Picking four of them will be a tough job for the experts."
