WORCESTER. September 22.
Extract of a Letter to the Editor, dated Brattleboro, (Vt.) September 17th, 1802.
"Our election took place the 7th inst. Federalism anticipated a triumph, but has been disappointed. My information from various parts of the State is such as enables me to announce, that the Legislature will be decidedly republican. Of twelve Councillors, elected by a general ticket through the State, not more than three federalists, upon the most favourable calculation of that party, will be chosen: and probably none. As many republican towns vote for our present Governor, he has obtained a small majority. The Republican Lieutenant-Governor, Mr. Brigham, will be re-elected; and we shall have a republican Senator to Congress in the place of Judge Chipman."
