MELANCHOLY ACCIDENT.
On Tuesday the 28th inst. Abigail Davis, only daughter to Mr. Flint Davis—of Harvard, a promising child aged five years, being at a near neighbor's with several children (the rest of the family being out of the house) by some means her Gown took fire, which the other children attempted to put out, but finding their endeavors unsuccessful, one of them ran and called her father from his shop across the street, who instantly flew to her relief, found her clothes all of a light blaze, which he immediately extinguished by the application of water, but notwithstanding every exertion was made to save her much desired life, she expired in twenty hours to the great grief of her kind and fond parent, and the sympathetic sorrow of the whole neighborhood.
