JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-(SNS)
Dr. A. L. Lewis, veteran insurance magnate and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Afro-American Life Insurance Company, returned to the city late Sunday from Orlando, where he went Saturday to speak as the featured orator on the "Wings Over Jordan" radio program, one of the best known programs of radio.
The leading local citizen spoke on the weekly broadcast of Sunday morning and was heard by millions of radio listeners. He spoke on "The Achievements of the Negro in Florida" in an able and educational address. The choir, made up of 40 of the best trained voices, appeared with Dr. Lewis. The address is eliciting praise from all around these having come to Dr. Lewis' offices this week hundreds of congratulatory messages, and many by personal contact.
This was a Columbia Broadcasting Company program. In charge of the groups are Worth Kramer, choir director, and Dr. Glenn T. Settle, the program founder, who serves as narrator.
Dr. Lewis is pleased with the honor of having been chosen for this all important task, and signal distinction.
