Northfield, Mass., Aug. 7.—With one exception, all of the speakers at today's sessions of the general conference of Christian Workers were Englishmen, Mr. W. R. Moody, the leader of the conference having secured the presence at the meetings of six well-known British clergymen.
Following the early morning prayer meetings, which were held in the various halls, Rev. W. R. Lane of London addressed the camp conference at Camp Northfield. Rev. Dr. G. Campbell Morgan of London, at 9 o'clock, continued his lectures on the Book of Romans. The most popular service of the day, a service of praise and song, under the direction of Charles M. Alexander, the gospel singer, was held in the auditorium and was attended by a great throng. Rev. Dr. John A. Hutton, rector of Bell Haven church, Glasgow, was the principal speaker at the 11 o'clock service.
The chief events on the afternoon program were the sub-conference on evangelistic methods and the open air meeting at Round Top. The latter meeting was to be addressed by Rev. Lewis Myer of New York. Rev. J. Stuart Holden, rector of St. Paul's chapel, London, will speak at the evening service.
