Big Celebration Is Planned
Marking BRT's 70th Year
ONEONTA, N. Y.--All roads will lead to Oneonta Sept. 23 where the 70th Anniversary of the BRT's founding will be observed with a mammoth celebration.
The program will get under way at 1:30 p. m. in Neahwa Park with the dedication of a plaque honoring the eight founders of the Brotherhood.
President W. P. Kennedy then will lay a wreath at the Brotherhood's War Memorial Monument, after which the 70th Anniversary ceremonies will be conducted.
The anniversary banquet--reservations are limited to 800--will take place at 6 p. m. in the State Armory.
Reservations ($3.50 per plate) should be addressed to A. W. Ludwig, 6 North St., Oneonta, N. Y.; and because of contract provisions must be made and paid for on or before Sept. 5, 1953. Checks or money orders should be made payable to "BRT 70th Anniversary Fund."
Heading the 70th Anniversary Committee is N. R. Dommermuth. Other officers are: W. J. O'Donnell, co-chairman; W. L. Getter, vice-chairman; H. C. Cole, secretary, and A. W. Ludwig, treasurer.
Anniversary Special Train
New York State Association of BRT and LA will hold its 17th annual convention Sept. 22, 23 and 24 in Albany, N. Y. with headquarters in Ten Eyck Hotel, in conjunction with the Brotherhood's anniversary program, and on the 23rd an Anniversary Special will leave Union Depot in Albany over Delaware & Hudson Railroad at 9 a. m. (EDST), arriving in Oneonta for the 70th Anniversary doings at 11:15 a. m. (EDST). This train will depart from Oneonta on the return trip at 9:15 p. m. (EDST), arriving in Albany at 11:15 p. m. (EDST).
Special train reservations should be addressed to W. J. O'Donnell, 11 North Pearl St., Room 1112, Albany 7, N. Y.
Reservation forms for the anniversary banquet and special train were carried in the June 15 and Aug. 17 issues of TRAINMAN NEWS.
International Association of General Chairmen will convene Sept. 21 in Albany at Ten Eyck Hotel to process a new wage-rules movement, and BRT field supervisors also will meet on that date to consider Promotion Dept. matters.
National Conference of State Legislative Representatives will convene Sept. 22 in Albany at Ten Eyck Hotel to consider its legislative program.
To Fete WPK. Mrs. Gorman
During the three-day meeting of New York State Association, banquets will be held honoring President Kennedy and Mrs. Mary Gorman, grand president of the Ladies Auxiliary.
The banquet for Mrs. Gorman will be Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6:30 p. m. Reservations are $4.
President Kennedy's banquet will be Thursday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p. m. Reservations are $5.
Reservations for these banquets should be addressed to Mrs. Florence Heeran, 14 Bohl Ave., Albany, N. Y. Checks or money orders should be made payable to "New York State Association, BRT and LA to BRT" and placed in the mail prior to the deadline date set by the caterer, Sept. 15.
