Full Text

The Lancaster (Pa.) Journal, has changed hands. It is now edited by a Mr. Hugh Maxwell. He is a loyal subject of the powers that be, and therefore quotes the Globe with humble faith and a believing spirit—which would of course be no concern of ours, had he not aided to give currency to its flagrant mis-statements relative to the Virginia elections. The editor of the Journal says:—“As both the supporters and enemies of the administration claim the majority in the legislature of Virginia, the editor of the Globe has taken some pains to ascertain the actual situation of parties, &c.”—and the statements of the Globe are then quoted as authentic. The Journal has, unwittingly, we presume, made a declaration in the above, which has no foundation in truth. "The supporters of the administration" in this State do not claim a majority in the Legislature. They dare not do it—so palpable and open is the knowledge of their defeat. They take a safe course. They keep their peace, & endeavor to obtain credence for the statements of the Globe, which they well know are distorted and incorrect.
