THE CATERPILLAR AND ARMY WORM.

In several sections of the District, the caterpillar and army worm have made their appearance, though it is too late to result in much damage to the cotton crop. Only a few farmers report any injury from these swarming visitors, and many agree that their appearance will prove beneficial rather than otherwise, by stripping the leaves, and allowing the cotton to open more rapidly, in advance of the frost. It will be remembered that these insects appeared in this region last year.
