GATES CUTS KEROSENE PRICE.
His Company Aims to Drive Waters-Pierce Concern From Texas.

AUSTIN, Texas, April 11.--The Texas company, the oil producing and refining concern in which John W. Gates owns a controlling interest, has inaugurated a campaign in an endeavor to drive the Waters-Pierce Oil company out of business in Texas.

Mr. Gates' company has established agencies in the principal towns, and has cut the prices of kerosene to 5 cents a gallon and gasoline to 10 cents a gallon.

The prices which the Waters-Pierce company was receiving were 12 cents a gallon for kerosene and 16 cents a gallon for gasoline. The latter company has met the prices established by Mr. Gates.
