American Is Held In Agua Prieta On Theft Charge

Thousand Peso Bond Stands Between Local Man and Freedom.

Local railroad employes have been active since last Friday in an effort to secure release from the Agua Prieta city jail of a man booked at the Agua Prieta police station as Fred Yesdic. The carefully typed-and officially signed Agua Prieta police record for last Friday, Aug. 21, states that this man was arrested on a charge of robbery.

The complaint further states that he robbed the home of Miss Angelita Gonzales of that city and that he removed two watches and several articles of jewelry. Bond in the case has been set at 1,000 pesos which sum the imprisoned individual has been unable to raise.

Agua Prieta police officers stated yesterday that the name on the record was not the correct name of the man and said that they had been reliably informed that his correct name was Fisher.

Chief of Police Percy Bowden of Douglas has been requested by numerous local railroad men to assist them in influencing the Agua Prieta authorities in an effort to secure the release of the man. The man is a brakeman and has been employed at intervals over the past five years, on trains operating over this division of the Southern Pacific. Friends of the man stated yesterday that the accusation against him did not cover the facts and that he was not really guilty of theft although they admitted that the jewelry and at least one of the watches were probably the property of Miss Gonzales.
