Bishops-Castle, in Shropshire, May 15. On Friday Morning, about Break of Day, there was felt here a great Earthquake, which lasted about a Minute, to the great Surprize and Astonishment of all those that were awake at that Time, and many were awaked by it; 'twas first heard by a rumbling great Noise, like the latter End of a Thunder Clap, and then immediately the Houses and Beds Shook violently, all the Things in the Houses; Doors clattered, like violently going to be open'd; Glass, in the Windows, Shelves and Frames with Pewter, made a Noise; Candlesticks, &c. tumbled down; Inhabitants starting up out of their Beds in such Consternation, as tho' the Houses (of Stone and Timber built,) were tumbling down about them: Friday the 13th Instant, being our Market-Day here, the Market-People related the same Shock was felt that very Morning, at the same Time, many Miles round this Town.
