Full Text

It having been inserted in some of the papers, that the Dutch never export any timber from Ireland, but are wholly supplied from Norway and Sweden; but it is well known, that Irish oak is vastly preferable to either, both for texture and ship building. That great quantities of Irish timber have been, and still continue to be exported by the Dutch, we need no other authority than that of Sir William Monson, who observes among other articles of importance in that excellent treatise, entitled, Naval Tracts, that the Dutch strip Ireland of its timber, wool, and other commodities, which if not put a stop to, may in time be attended with bad consequence.
