Mr. Purdie,

OBSERVING in your paper of June 20th the name of Archibald Cash advertised as a deserter, by capt. Thomas Ewell, you will please to inform the publick, that I borrowed 20 dollars of him, and sent soon after, by a friend, 71. 4s. to repay him. The money was tendered, but capt. Ewell would not receive it; therefore, I submit to the publick what right he has to publish me in the publick papers. Notwithstanding, I am willing, and ready, upon any pressing emergency, to serve my country without being advertised or taken up as a deserter; and am ready, able, and willing, to pay capt. Ewell the money when demanded.
