Full Text

Report Denied.

When interviewed concerning the rumor of the University of Virginia closing, President Edwin A. Alderman said, "My attention has been called to a rumor to the effect that the University of Virginia will be closed during some portion of the present session, on account of lack of coal, or for some other reason connected with the war. The rumor is utterly without foundation and absurd. The University, as a matter of fact, has a reserve supply of 1,500 tons of coal and fully expects to maintain this reserve. The University will open for the second term on January 3, 1918, and the work will go forward with the usual punctuality and thoroughness."
