Aside from holidays, Saturday night is the "big night" in the life of every pretty and popular young lady. All week long she's in a dither, wondering where HE'S going to take her, what she's going to wear and cherishing anticipation of the weekly social event.

But all too often, her preparations for looking nice are limited to day-dreaming and, when Saturday rolls around, there's such a frantic, last-minute rush to get ready, that by the time the man in her Life arrives to call her, she's practically a nervous wreck. That's no way to begin an evening. And it could all be avoided by using an evening or two to have your hair done at a beauty parlor, nails, pedicure for Saturday afternoon.

Oh, it's better to have it done a day or two in advance. You can easily by putting a net over the coiffure before you go to bed. This will also help eliminate that "set" look which hair so often has, when one has just come from the beauty salon. Like shine, thin, if you "do" your own hair. In this case, your best bet is to be brief to the right lotion since most girls mess their hair more positively than do the experts.

Manicure? Don't wait till the last minute for that either. To do a good job takes time and, if you're rushed and impatient, you'll probably smear the lacquer a dozen times and have to re-do and re-do until you're in a tizzy. Do your nails a day or two ahead of time, too. With the sealers available nowadays, the polish will look just as nice on Saturday night as they do when you finish them on a Thursday or Friday.

If you're going dancing, give your feet some attention in advance, also. A warm foot bath, followed by alternate rinsings in hot and cold water will make tired feet feel wonderful. And use this period to get rid of calluses with a soapy brush or pumice stone. If a dreaded corn or two is in evidence, better tie yourself to a chiropodist and have him remove them. You just can't enjoy dancing if corns or calluses bother you.

Check your clothes in advance, too. Be sure everything you're planning to wear is in perfect order - immaculately clean, freshly pressed, no ripped seams, dragging hemlines, insecure buttons, snaps, hooks and eyes. Check your purse, too, and clean out all the odds and ends, so that when you open it, he'll see that you're a neat and tidy girl - the kind he likes.
