Full Text

It has been said that New York State has filled her quota of the 300,000 men the President expected to call for shortly, and that no draft will be made in that State. Be that as it may, the Journal of Commerce says that enrolling is quietly proceeding in that city, and that no difficulty is experienced, owing to gentlemanly behavior of the officers who are doing the duty. Doubtless with the exercise of the same care and good sense, it would be equally orderly everywhere. The Journal also says the classes into which the act divides the people are about as four of the first class to one of the second.
