REDLEGS WHIP PIRATES 8 TO 3

PITTSBURGH, - (INS) - The Cincinnati Redlegs broke a tie with a five-run bombardment in the ninth inning Saturday to subdue the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8 to 3.

Johnny Klippstein went all the way for his ninth victory of the season. The Pirates used five pitchers, the loss being charged to Howie Pollet in relief for Danny Wina.

Johnny Temple opened the ninth with a single and stopped at third following Wally Post's double to left. Elroy Face relieved Pollet and Frank Robinson belted his first pitch over the left field wall for his 24th homer of the year and the margin of victory.

The Pirates built a 2-0 lead off Klippstein in the opening inning on Dale Long's 22nd homer with Bob Skinner aboard.
