Saturday last arrived here Capt. Wheelwright from Halifax, which Place he left last Monday: By a Gentleman who came Passenger, we learn that the Right Honorable Lord COLVILLE, Rear Admiral of the White, and Commander in chief of his Majesty's Ships in North-America, was arrived there in the Romney Man of War in 40 Days from England: That it was reported at Halifax that three large French Store-ships were gone up the River St. Lawrence, suppos'd to supply the Indians, &c. with Necessaries for carrying on another WAR, which it was feared would soon break out; the French pretending great Difficulties, and using many subtle Arts to avoid complying with ALL the Terms of the late Treaty of Peace: 'Tis also said that the misunderstanding between the English and Dutch, was greatly increased, and that Dr. Hay, one of the Lords of the Admiralty, was going over to Holland in order, if possible, to accommodate Affairs with them: It is also said that some Difficulties have arisen between us and the King of Prussia, which it was thought would be attended with bad Consequences.
