ALEXANDRIA:
TUESDAY MORNING, JANUARY 2.

The Exploring Expedition.—We give place to-day to a communication addressed to the Secretary of the Navy, coming of course, from a responsible source.—The tone of the article, it will be perceived, is bold—its assertions positive, and its comments on the public and official conduct of the Secretary, caustic and severe.
The liberty of the press, and the necessity of freedom in the discussion of such subjects, have induced us to publish this communication, and we shall be ready to open our columns to any reply which the Secretary or his friends may wish to make.
The public interest excited in relation to the Exploring Expedition, will cause the article in our columns to-day, to be extensively read.
