CEMETERY GATES open from 7 A.M.
till 6 P.M., until further notice.
Band Concert next Saturday night
weather permitting.
The work on the Court House improvements
is progressing
satisfactorily.
Clerk Meharg and wife are expected
home from their trip to the Far West
on Saturday.
The northern portion of the county
was favored with copious rain storms
on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Mr. Henry Grohe is confined to his
bed by a very severe attack of inflammatory
rheumatism.
R. H. Field, Associate Editor of the
Kent News made us a pleasant call on
Monday.

Lyman Hatfield, Esq., of Boston, is
spending several weeks visiting friends
in this part of Ohio. He is stopping
with his son, E. P. Hatfield, Esq.
M. W. Phelps, Esq., left on Wednesday
on a business trip to New York
and Philadelphia. He expects to return
on Monday next.
Mrs. Z. K. Smith has so far recovered
from her long and severe illness
that she was able to drive out on Tuesday
last.
The flower vase in the front yard of
Postmaster Krake, manufactured by
A. N. Pierce & Co., is very artistic and
pretty.
There were thirty-six applicants-27
ladies and 9 gentlemen-before the
Board of Examiners at their meeting
on Saturday last.
Miss Addie Brouse, daughter of C.
A. Brouse, Esq., of Akron, is spending
a couple of weeks visiting the family
of R. S. Elkins, Esq.
Maj. D. C. Coolman returned from
his Eastern trip on Saturday and represents
the prospects of the W. R.
Railroad as very encouraging.
Capt. F. W. Coffin and wife accompanied
by Mrs. Henry Beecher and
Miss Mollie Horton left on Tuesday
for a visit to Nantucket.
