There's no prosperity so long as wage earners have nothing to buy with.
The great heart of the Republican party beats only in unison with millionaires.
McKINLEY attributes the better times in the West to the good crops in this country and the bad crops in other countries, and the prosperity in the East to the protective tariff. The new Republican tariff seems to be working only in spots, according to the President.
The Ohio campaign is getting hot. Here's the way Colonel A. L. Conger gets after Mark Hanna:
"There is no escape from the bondage in which the Republicans are now held unless they vote the Democratic ticket this fall. Mark Hanna's nomination is an insult to American labor, and every laboring man should vote against him."
