"SOMETHING WRONG."—Every body admits that there is something wrong: but many say that they do not know who is to blame, and they will therefore lie still for a while. A mariner would be as wise, who should see his ship gradually sinking, but would not set all hands at the pumps to stop the leak, until he could discover by what means his vessel had been injured. Who can be to blame, but they who have had the power in their hands? If a farmer puts an overseer on a distant farm, and on visiting it he finds that his fences are all down, that his crops are eat up by grass and weeds, that his stock are half-fed and gradually dying off, and every thing wears the semblance of ruin, whom will he blame for it? Would it not be strange if he should "reward" the manager, and chastise those who had no control of affairs, and who had been allowed to take no part in the business of the farm?— If there is something wrong, our managers at Washington are accountable for it; and the people should remove them, and put into their places men who will rectify the wrong.
