Full Text

A Veteran Tramper.

A patriarch among the "comps" is Harry Sheets, The Kentuckian thus chronicles his arrival in Paducah: "Yesterday Maj. Harry Sheets, a 'tramping printer,' 71 years of age, arrived in our city from Nashville. He never travels on any conveyance, but wherever he goes he travels on foot. During his tramping he has worked in every State of the United States, except California, and has taken his time to travel over them. If there were any stations at reasonable distances between here and California where he could rest and procure grub, and if it was not for the danger of having his scalp raised by the bloody Inji-ins,' we haven't the least doubt that he would yet undertake a 'foot-ride' to that far-off land."
