The COMET mentioned in your last, has moved in a different Manner from what was supposed from the first Observations. Have had only one Opportunity of making an exact Observation since, viz last Saturday Evening, when its Distance from Cor Leonis was 29 d. 17 m: from Spica Virginis 41 d. 17 m; so that it moved in 4 Days from the 1st Instant but little more than double the Space which it appeared to have run thro' in the preceding 24 Hours: its Magnitude also is diminished; and therefore conclude, instead of going towards the Sun, it is departing from it, and is the same which was seen in the Morning; which has continued it's Motion South Westerly, tho' it seems to move towards the N.W. its Orbit making a considerable Angle with the Earth's Axis. Probably it is already beyond the Orbit of Mars, and will soon be at such a Distance as wholly to disappear.

Event Details
The Comet has moved differently than initially supposed, with exact observation last Saturday Evening showing distances from Cor Leonis (29 d. 17 m) and Spica Virginis (41 d. 17 m). It moved little more than double the space in 4 days from the 1st Instant compared to preceding 24 hours. It is the same as seen in the morning, continuing south-westerly motion, appearing to move N.W. due to orbit angle with Earth's axis.
