Full Text

We are informed by Mr. Smith, the Mountain Grove mail carrier, that two children of Mrs. Mary Denton, of Goldsberry township, Howell county, were shockingly burnt, a few days ago, in the following manner: Mrs. D. had put a quilt around her daughter, who was about seven years old, and had fastened it at the neck with a strong cord. While the mother was absent for a few moments the blanket took fire from the hearth, and the girl, unable to free herself, was burnt so badly that she died in about ten or twelve hours. An infant, some four or five months old was on a pallet on the floor which took fire and the babe so badly burnt that it is not expected to live.-Wright County Home Talk.
