Parnassian Spring.

For the GAZETTE.

To Miss S-y O-

RACE not for splendor yonder

1 starry skies ;
Brighter the glories of young Sally's eyes,
Her looks add lustre to meridian day,
Her beauty foils the golden pride of May.
Fragrant as blooming spring, and strong
as light,
She pours full transport on the ravish'd
sight.
More raptures found within her circling
arms
Than beauty's Queen could give with all
her charms.
Three graces only upon her head did
wait,
A thousand in Sally are complete.
If, before Troy, with beauty's Queen en-
gag'd,
In burnish'd steel, while the gor'd battle
rag'd
The goddess had exerted half such charms,
The
wond'ring Greek had dropp'd his
polish'd arms,
The breast divine had then escap'd from
wound,
And he his fate instead of conquest found.
