Hopkinton, Jan. 20, 1775.
Master PRINTER,
A Man of our Town was down to the bank last Week with Butter, when he got home we all crowded about him to hear the news; he told us how the great ones at the bank were almost Frightened out of their wits, & had got a great long paper to prevent their being killed, & having their throats cutt, it seems they are afraid that the town folks are all run mad and going to kill them because they arnt mad too, master Printer pray tell us in your next news what there is in the paper I think he called it a foshahon & that they promised to shoot any body that would not let them feil Tea, play cards & dice the divels devie & do any thing elfe they were ainind to, the man said that one of them told him thst it was a tory and a lie trumped up by the fons of Liberty to cat a lur on the Tories & that was nothing more then to kerp them fafe this winter & prevent their being hanged in the pring, as all the ons of Liberty would be when the kings faices came over, now pray mhr. Printer do let the paper be publsthed that we mhay know all about it for we fupeCt it is all a lie told by oir neighbour to make us tate for the mian who brought the news, is a comical fellow & will make no bones to tell a fib to mhake fun or michief cither.
