The Montana Fish and Game department reports that 78 arrests were made on fish and game law violations charges during August, 66 of which were fishing misdemeanors.
Twenty-three persons, both residents and non-residents, were arrested for fishing without licenses in Montana waters, and in Flathead county three Montanans were arrested for taking fish with the use of dynamite. Fifteen persons made false applications for resident licenses, four fished with more than one line and four had improper licenses, according to the August report.
Other irregularities were fishing in closed waters, possession of salmon eggs, having more than the legal limit of fish, baiting the water and introduction of food to concentrate the fish.
Game wardens also arrested a resident for keeping two bear cubs in captivity, one man for possession of a mink during the closed season and one for killing a brown bear out of season. Three Gallatin county men were fined and had their licenses revoked for possession of the carcasses of game animals killed during the closed season.
