Full Text

Shields upon Becker.

Gen. Shields has a high opinion of Quarter Master General Becker's capacity!

In his speech at the Ratification fizzle of Thursday evening last, having got on his heeled boots, oratorically speaking, the gallant General, with uplifted arm and a smirk on his countenance even more fascinating than usual, exclaimed, "Then there's our gallant candidate for Governor—George L. Becker—he's large-hearted, big-souled, and—and pretty intelligent!"

Becker sat behind him.

"Phansy his pheelinx!"

The head of the "gallant Shields" is evidently "level."

Hurrah, Dimmycrats!-
Vote for the "pretty intelligent" candidate for Governor, and Father Shields will pat you on the head, and call you "the gallant sons of the Emerald Isle." Great is your reward—if you'll take it in Railroad currency!
