Full Text

Louisiana—Fourth District.—The Bee of the 22d inst. says:—The Alexandria Transcript thinks Morse's majority in the Fourth District is 20, and calls upon Judge Bordelou to contest the election, as there was a large number of spurious votes—more than 100—cast for the Locofoco candidate in the Parish of Rapides alone. Of one thing, says the Transcript, we are satisfied that Bordelou is elected by the bona fide white voters of the district, and we are sorry to say that a goodly portion of the majority against him in this Parish was not of that character. This is a grave charge and merits investigation.—In 1842 a similar accusation was urged against the Locofoco party in Rapides, but not pressed to the point of eliciting any development. That Parish is obtaining quite an enviable reputation.
