Silent Husband Will Converse for Two Hours
Weekly Under Court Orders.
Magistrate Higginbotham, in the Lee-ave.
police court, Williamsburg, yesterday, sentenced
Jacob Englehard to talk to his wife every Sun-
day for two hours in the parlor of their home, in
Myrtle-ave. Englehard was summoned to the
Lee-ave. police court yesterday by his wife,
Mary, who alleged that her husband had treated
her in a cruel manner for some time.
When Englehard was arraigned the wife told
the magistrate that her husband has been living
at home for thirteen weeks and had not spoken
to her in that time. After all the family troubles
had been aired the magistrate ordered Englehard
to pay his wife $3 a week and every Sunday
afternoon go into the parlor and for two hours
talk over their courting days. He also ordered
the wife to be kind to her husband.
