Pep Meeting Highlights
House Homecoming Events

By Franklin Taylor

School spirit was high at Morehouse College throughout the week as the colorful "Homecoming Festivities" got underway. Last night, the entire student body turned out for a pep meeting and bon-fire, which was staged on the Spelman College Campus. This event was followed by the Maroon and White Reception, which transpired in Robert Hall, Morehouse College, during which time the students and alumni expressed themselves as being confident of victory over the Clark College Panthers in today's game. The Maroon Tigers closed a week of steady grinding yesterday afternoon, with a light practice session. On the whole the team was in an excellent condition, and determined to win the homecoming tilt. Edwin Smith flashy back, however, sustained a slight injury, and it is doubtful he will see action today. Coach Smith has erased the weak spots that showed in previous games, particularly those revealed in the game against Tuskegee. It must be mentioned, however, that the majority of the squad was inexperienced at that time, but should be able to hold their own today. Many alumni and friends are in the city for the big game, and a record crowd is expected to help cheer the Maroons to victory. This group will include Coach Franklin L. Forbes, Morehouse Athletic director, now on leave to work with the YMCA-USO. He will provide the inspiration for the Tigers.
