COMMUNICATION.

The frequent practice of old story telling, is in general very insipid. Such a propensity is most prevalent in old men, and more so in men than in women; the minds of the latter are apt to be more actively engaged in the passing and flying scenes of the day.

The time that people of business can conveniently be together, is mostly short; and it is reasonable to suppose that men of sense would prefer being entertained with general topics, and the important events that are daily unfolding themselves in more rapid succession, than was perhaps ever known in any period of the world.

Trifling stories often repeated, become stale and tiresome. It would seem as if some people laid in a stock of them for certain occasions, with as much care as travelling expenses.-Gaz. U. S.
