Brotherhood's Largest Meeting To Open One Week From Monday

FAIR, ATTRACTION

Many Delegates Will View Pottery Exhibit At New York Fair

Brotherhood officials are scheduled to leave next Tuesday for Atlantic City where a four-day meeting of the Executive Board will take place prior to the opening of the forty-eighth annual convention scheduled for Monday, July 1, in the spacious and breeze-swept solarium atop the popular Jefferson Hotel.

The meeting of the officials is extremely important to the convention since this will be undoubtedly the largest both in attendance and in the number of resolutions to be considered. This calls for plans whereby facile and speedy handling of the resolutions, while giving each one the proper attention, can be accomplished.

There are numerous organization matters to be brought up at this time, also, and it is not to be doubted that the Board will plan arrangements for an appropriate celebration marking the golden anniversary of the National Brotherhood of Operative Potters which it will present to the convention.

With approximately 140 delegates scheduled to answer the opening roll, it will be quite a problem for President James M. Duffy to assign each one to a committee while attempting to keep in mind the special talents of each individual.

This being conference year, a majority of the resolutions to be discussed pertain to the wage contract, but there are many others which have the smooth running of the organization as their basis.

Undoubtedly many of the delegates will wish to take this opportunity to visit the World's Fair in New York and especially the pottery exhibit in the America At Home building. All reports from Flushing state that again this year the ware-making show is drawing huge crowds and is one of the real outstanding events of the "greatest show on earth." Delegates anxious to view the exhibit will be able to go to New York on the weekend preceding the opening of the convention, on the Fourth, which is the following Thursday, the next weekend, or on the way home. The Fair shouldn't be missed by anyone able to make the few additional miles.
