SKAGIT NOTES,

A correspondent of the Bee thus writes:

Over $3,000 was taken out of the Skagit here last summer.

A complete set of miners' tools have never been taken in the mines, as it is literally impossible to do so.

The music of the shot-gun will be heard on the Skagit next spring, and don't you forget it.

Some of the notable points on the Skagit deserve mention on account of their cephalous names. Teerue Goleb, Shoe Leather Gulch, Shirt-Tail Bar, Hell's Delight, Damned'em Flat, Ungodly View and Point Hold Tight being the most celebrated. Jack Rowly has been immortalized. The highest mountain in the Skagit district has been called 'Jack's Mountain' in his honor.

We warn all who intend going to the mines next spring to take a large roll of greenbacks with them. Living will be high and disappointment certain. It is impossible to tramp to Seattle, and as for swimming, it can't be done.

Ten thousand men are expected to enter the Skagit. A few ladies have announced their intention to move in also, but whether-as missionaries or not is unknown.

The Skagit woods abound in bear and deer. Large savage wolves that do not hesitate to attack a man are plenty. It is to be hoped they will pay all their compliments to the tramp and hoodlum.
