Candidate Again

VISALIA, Cal., June 21. (UP)-
Gordon H. Garland, speaker of the
California assembly and leader of
the legislative economy bloc today
filed for reelection to the assembly
from Tulare and Kings counties.
Although a life-long Democrat,
Garland indicated he would seek
omination on both the Democratic
and Republican party tickets. He
has represented Tulare and Kings
counties since 1926.
As chairman of the committee on
irrigation in 1937, Garland handled
all bills pertaining to the Central
Valley project. More recently, as
speaker, he appointed legislative
committees to investigate the state
relief administration, and opposed
enactment of taxes
proposed by
the administration.
