THE ARAPAHOE SCHOOL.
A call at the Arapahoe school and to spend an evening, seeing the different exercises, study hour and collection, is sufficient to convince one of the good work that is being perfected by this important civilizer.
We had the pleasure of spending an evening at these regular exercises recently, and found the children earnestly perusing their lessons for the next day. This is a grand work for the children, as they are not kept quiet, but allowed to talk at will, providing they talk about their lessons. After study hour, they have a short recess, after which the children assemble for collection, which consists of singing, repeating verses of scripture, prayers, etc. Everything was done with alacrity and promptness, revealing to us that they were deeply interested in the good work in which they are engaged. After the exercises were over, the children marched to bed, and we repaired to the sitting room, where we discussed the latest topics of interest, such as politics, religion, nuts, candy, etc. Everyone expressed their opinions freely—especially as to the quality of the refreshments. Spending a very pleasant evening, after receiving a cordial invitation to return, we separated.
