BOOBS AND BOOBY TRAPS

Phillip Murray and his CIO steel workers thought they won a great victory when the President seized the steel mills and announced that the government would operate them.

The government had ruled that the steel workers were entitled to an increase in wages of 29¢ an hour and that the steel industry should continue to sell its steel at the same old price.

The steel industry said it could not be done and refused to pay. Then the CIO called a strike and to prevent the strike, the President seized the entire industry.

In this case, the President has used the power of his office and the full power of the government on the side of the steel workers. The government has acted as a partisan agency on behalf of the steel workers.

The CIO has more workers than there are owners of the steel mills and consequently, the President is determined to hold the CIO vote in the elections of 1952.

The President and the CIO lately have been nothing but boobs in the situation. They've taken the power of the government and undertook to destroy one group for the benefit of another group.

If they establish this precedent, they will create a booby trap which someday may destroy them.

It is conceivable that we might have a President at sometime who would use the government against the steel workers in favor of the owners.

That could happen.

Now, if Truman, Murray and the other CIO politicians should create a booby trap and later become the victims of that trap, they will have no one to blame but themselves.

It cannot be denied that they are laying a booby trap for the steel mills.

Someday they may be destroyed by that same booby trap.

The seizure of the mills by the President was illegal and if the President gets by with it, it will establish a dangerous precedent.

If the President gets by with it, it means an end to the right of people to private property. If the President gets by with it, it means the establishment of Socialism by executive fiat.

After all, this is another illustration of what happens when the country is run by boobs and controlled by booby traps.

It is time to get rid of the boobs.
