Washington, August 6 - Several applications have lately been made to the Executive authorities for special permission to visit Jeff. Davis. One of these was made by his former physician, who desires to professionally ascertain the actual condition of that person's health. To this no answer has yet been made.
The Government has abundant means of constantly being advised on the subject, and so far as is known here the prisoner's health is not suffering from his treatment.
