Full Text
The Dutch exiles, in England are preparing to embark for this asylum of all nations. An eminent influx of industry and opulence will therefore soon increase the rivers of American commerce. The neutrality of the United States in the European contest, was a measure that does honour to the political foresight of our federal government. Already the resort of all nations, our country will speedily become Emporium of the world. Unafflicted by the jarring elements, which disturb the mother continent, America, peaceful, industrious, and independent, is actually, at this moment, receiving tribute from every commercial people on the globe. The Arts, the Muses and the Sciences, affrighted "clangor tubarum" have commenced their flight for our happy shores; and without enthusiasm, we may anticipate the period, when the states of Columbia shall unite the commerce of Carthage, with the literature of Athens.
