CONGRESS.
In the Senate, yesterday, a communication was received from the Secretary of the Treasury, in relation to the recent construction of the Treasury law--in which it appears that the Comptroller has made an erroneous construction of the instructions of Secretary McLane, made last April; and that a new circular will forthwith be issued.
After some conversation between Mr. CLAY and Mr. FORSYTH, the communication was laid upon the table.
The special order of the day was then taken up, and Mr. CALHOUN delivered an able but concise argument in opposition to the Removal of the Deposites.
After Mr. CALHOUN had concluded, Mr. SHEPLEY, of Maine, took the floor, and the Senate adjourned.
In the House of Representatives, the petition of Noah Fletcher, late a Clerk in the Clerk's Office of the House of Representatives, was taken up, and Mr. CHILTON moved to refer it to a select committee.
This gave rise to an animated discussion, which eventuated in laying the whole subject on the table, by a vote of 104 to 83.
After the transaction of some private business the House Adjourned
