TAIPEI- (INS) Nationalist planes hit the Red-held Taishan Isles Monday in the fourth day ol a heavy air assault amid'reports Of a new Communist invasion buildup on the China mainland coast opposite the strategic Matsus.
Free China's Air Force said six vaves of its bombers and fighter-bombers dumped tons of explosives and showers of rockets on the Taishans in a 34-hour raid termed the largest since the Reds seized the Isles late last week.

Red occupation of the Taishans touched off a sea-air battle Friday in which Nationalist airmen said they sank a Red submarine while naval vessels sent 22 Communist surface ships to the bottom.
UNOCCUPIED BEFORE
The Taishans, which had been unoccupied by either side before Red amphibious troops landed there last week, lie 32 miles southwest of Nanchi which Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek's forces have been ordered to defend at all costs, with or without American help.
Since their seizure of the Taishans, the Reds have been sending reinforcements, big guns and other equipment to the Isles in possible preparation for an invasion assault on Nanchi, 120 miles north of the Kingpin Nationalist island bastion of Formosa.
To check this flow of men and materials, the Nationalist Air Force launched a major assault on Red troops and shore installations as well as ship convoys en route to the Taishans from the nearby mainland.
Airmen returning from the Monday morning strikes said their bombs and rockets hit artillery posts and other targets, kindling huge fires.
