All over the country the memorials for our soldiers, who gave their lives in battle that we might have freedom are being established in practical and sensible form.
The first great memorial in France for America's dead will be a hospital. It will stand overlooking the 15,000 roofless houses in Rheims and overshadowed by the battered cathedral.
The sum of $100,000 has been guaranteed by an American organization. The French government will deed the ground. What remains to be raised is the endowment fund. This will be achieved by perpetual endowment of memorial beds by individuals.
