On the evening of the 18th inst. a daughter of the Rev. John Record, of Williamson County, about 7 years of age, on her return from school was cruelly murdered by a negro girl, in a branch of water; the particulars of the murder as far as we can learn, are these -- That for some crime she had been corrected, for which the determined to take revenge; for this purpose she waited at the branch for the return of the girl; when she came to the branch the negro threw her with her face down, into the water, the negro proving the strongest held the girl in the water until she was dead. The negro has confessed the deed. On Saturday last, the chairman of the court passed the sentence for the negro to be hanged in the vicinity of Franklin on the 27th day of September next.
